Unscheduled Closures
The center will follow the Seattle Public School Schedule for closure and delays regarding snow days and other severe weather conditions. There are no tuition refunds for closures due to snow or other natural disasters (e.g. earthquake, volcanic eruptions, power outage). FCC van and metro transportation is not provided when the Seattle School District is on a delayed start due to snow and ice.
Family Involvement
Every family is expected to contribute at least one hour a month of family involvement time per parent/guardian, per child enrolled at FCC. Examples of family involvement eligible activities are participating in field trips, helping in the classroom, participating in work parties, serving on the Advisory Board, working on fund-raising activities, or donating goods or services.
One hour credit is equal to $15 of tangible donation or one hour time spent. Parents are responsible for tracking hours, which are posted quarterly. Parent hours are due on August 31 of each year, at which time unfulfilled parent hours are billed at $20 per hour.
Late Policy
FCC closes at promptly at 6:00 PM. There is a $1 per minute late fee, per child. If you are late, please pay the teacher directly at the time of occurrence.
Sick Policy
To help our children stay as healthy as possible, any child who is ill or unable to keep up with the regular activity level of the class should stay home. The following symptoms indicate that a child is ill and should not be at FCC: temperature of 101 degrees orally (100 axillary), vomiting, diarrhea, or any contagious infection.
If a child becomes ill while at the Center, we ask you pick up the child within one hour. Children who are sent home ill should remain home the following day, and until symptom-free (not requiring Tylenol).
Meals & Snacks
Breakfast, AM snack and PM snack are provided. Parents provide lunches. A refrigerator is available in each classroom to store lunches. Lunchboxes should be labeled with your child’s first and last name and current date. Milk and water will be provided at all meals. For infants, parents must provide baby food, formula and/or breast milk, labeled with your child’s first and last name and date of preparation.
FCC is a peanut-free facility, and currently does not serve chicken, nuts or eggs due to severe allergies. Other allergies are handled on a classroom-by-classroom basis.
Clothing
We play outdoors daily, weather permitting, and participate in messy activities. Children should dress for play, and have one complete change of clothing (including socks and underwear) stored in the classroom. As seasonally appropriate, rubber boots, hats and mittens, and bathing suits are also recommended. Parents are also responsible for providing diapers (cloth or disposable) for their child.
